Barack Obama picked an appearance at a town-hall meeting broadcast by ESPN to announce Michelle and his current project. Some will see this as nothing more than good PR for Obama’s foundation in Chicago, while it is more likely we are seeing his return to his community organizing days he learned from Saul Alinsky and his leftist disciples.
During the town hall. Obama said he wants to create a “platform” to train the next generation of activists and leaders. He told the group:
“Most prominently we’re gonna be interested in figuring out how we can develop the next generation of leaders. [we will] be trying to create a platform where young activists … can get trained and learn from each other.”
Obama repeated the criticism personalities like NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his refusal to stand for the national anthem and demonstrations in Ferguson in opposition to police brutality. Both, he said, called attention to a real problem without proposing any real solution.
Alluding to Martin Luther King Jr. and Democrat Representative from Georgia John Lewis, the former president said that both, “would begin with the protest but then very rapidly engage in the powers that be to say, ‘We will stop protesting when you use this specific thing.’”
The specific things that Obama is thinking of are what gives many a reason to pause.
Conservative columnist Paul Sperry wrote a commentary for the New York Post over a year ago with the headline, “How Obama is Scheming to Sabotage Trump’s Presidency.” The ‘how’ is now becoming more clear.
Sperry described Organize for Action (OFA) then as a “little known but well-funded protesting arm” formed by Obama supporters to recruit leftist protesters. He speculated that Obama was “working behind the scenes to set up what will effectively be a shadow government” to oppose Trump. He wrote:
“Since Donald Trump’s election, this little-known but well-funded protesting arm has beefed up staff and ramped up recruitment of young liberal activists, declaring on its website, ‘We’re not backing down.’ Determined to salvage Obama’s legacy, it’s drawing battle lines on immigration, ObamaCare, race relations and climate change.
Obama is intimately involved in OFA operations and even tweets from the group’s account. In fact, he gave marching orders to OFA foot soldiers following Trump’s upset victory.”
Obama’s website links to OFA’s that has an extensive network of volunteers. The organization mission statement is that it exists to “rear the next generation of progressive grassroots organizers.
Byron York of the National Review warned before Obama’s first run for president in 2008 that the then little-known freshman senator had an insatiable hunger for change and power.
York contended then that one can only understand where Barack Obama might go by understanding from whence he came. In other words, read Saul Alinsky book Rules for Radicals and you will find the blueprint that brought Obama to power and the reason he will never follow many past president’s pattern of fading from public attention or serve as a senior statesman when needed.
In Rules for Radicals Alinsky encouraged a young Obama community organizer to be “an abrasive agent to rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; to fan latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expressions.”
York explains, “ Once such hostilities were ‘whipped up to a fighting pitch’… he steered his group toward confrontation, in the form of picketing, demonstrating, and general hell-raising…At first, the organizer tackled small stuff… later, when the group gained confidence, the organizer could take on bigger targets. But at all times, the organizer’s goal was not to lead his people anywhere but to encourage them to take action on their own behalf.”
Instead of war in the streets, Obama now leads a far different kind of social justice army than his early Chicago days, but his goal is what it has always been – instigate a movement that gives him power so he can move on to a bigger cause and gain more power.
Listening to Barack Obama leaves no doubt what he sees as his next path to power. He wants to train an army of “community organizers” made in his image to combat conservatives in America and more specifically President Trump’s agenda.
