Five Accused Killers Were Hiding in Sanctuary Cities — Because Where Else Would You Go if You're Wanted for Murder?

ICE agents just rounded up five fugitives wanted on homicide charges in Connecticut and Massachusetts — all of them illegal aliens, all of them hiding out in sanctuary jurisdictions, and all of them apparently living their best lives in cities that pride themselves on not cooperating with federal law enforcement.

What a coincidence! Five accused murderers, and they ALL picked sanctuary cities to lay low in. It’s almost like the sanctuary designation is functioning as a Yelp review for international fugitives. “Five stars — great hiding spot, cops won’t ask questions, highly recommend.”

Let’s run through the guest list, shall we?

Danny Granados-Garcia, an El Salvadoran national and MS-13 member — yes, the gang the federal government has designated a foreign terrorist organization — was picked up in Waterbury, Connecticut. He’s wanted for aggravated homicide. MS-13 isn’t exactly a bowling league. But Waterbury rolled out the welcome mat anyway.

Then we’ve got Magno Jose Dos Santos from Brazil, wanted for homicide and attempted crime since 2021. Arrested in Worcester, Massachusetts. Also in Worcester: Bryan Rafael Gomez from the Dominican Republic, wanted for homicide with a warrant dating back to 2023. Two accused killers in the same city. Worcester’s really putting itself on the map.

Kele Cristian Alves-Pereira, another Brazilian national wanted for a 2021 murder, was nabbed in Everett, Massachusetts. And Altieris Chaves Paiva, also from Brazil, wanted for a 2024 homicide, was living it up in Falmouth on Cape Cod. Cape Cod! The man is wanted for killing someone and he’s hanging out where people go to eat lobster rolls and complain about parking.

Every single one of these guys entered the country illegally during the Biden administration. Every single one relocated to a sanctuary jurisdiction afterward. And every single one was walking around free until ICE showed up to do the job that local law enforcement refuses to do.

ICE-ERO Boston acting Field Office Director David Wesling said it plainly: “Even though some of these foreign fugitives had no criminal charges in the United States, all endangered our New England communities.” Translation: just because they hadn’t killed anyone HERE yet doesn’t mean they weren’t dangerous.

But sure, let’s talk about “compassion.”

That’s the word sanctuary city politicians love to throw around. Compassion. They’re compassionate. They care about immigrants. They would never turn someone over to those big mean ICE agents. Meanwhile, the people they’re “protecting” include an MS-13 terrorist wanted for aggravated homicide.

Compassion for whom, exactly? Because it’s definitely not for the people these five men are accused of killing.

Massachusetts alone has 13 sanctuary counties and 12 sanctuary cities. Connecticut has six sanctuary cities. The Trump administration has identified at least 35 states with sanctuary jurisdictions. Thirty-five. That’s a LOT of hiding spots.

And it gets better. The town of Natick, Massachusetts recently voted to declare itself a sanctuary AFTER an Iranian national with alleged ties to terrorist attacks was arrested there. So the town’s response to finding out a suspected terrorist was living in their community was to make it EASIER for the next one to move in. Incredible decision-making. Really top-shelf governance.

Nearly 70% of ICE arrests under the Trump administration have involved individuals with U.S. criminal histories. ICE Boston alone has picked up multiple Brazilian nationals convicted of child rape, drug trafficking, and murder. These aren’t landscapers and dishwashers we’re talking about. These are violent criminals who figured out that certain American cities will protect them from consequences.

The sanctuary city scam was always sold as a way to help “undocumented families” feel safe going to the doctor or sending their kids to school. Noble pitch. Beautiful brochure. But in practice, it built a network of safe houses for fugitives wanted on murder warrants in other countries.

Five accused killers. Five sanctuary cities. Zero cooperation with federal law enforcement.

If your city’s immigration policy is indistinguishable from a witness protection program for foreign murder suspects, maybe it’s time to rethink the policy.
